I’ve never been comfortable talking about myself. When I first started this blog in 2009, I neither disclosed my full name nor any thing more specific about myself other than that I have always been drawn to writing. I rationalized my choice with what might be a misguided notion that what is said is more important than who’s saying it. I did allude to having done graduate work perhaps because I thought that in doing so, I would be taken seriously.
I’m sure my upbringing and subsequent work had much to do with my reluctance to disclose. My father was a lawyer and so was my grandfather. I might as well have been born with a gene for watching what you say all the time and saying only that which won’t incriminate you. Then in one of my last “regular” jobs, I had to deal with lawyers—both those who sued and those who defended the department I was working for for failure to provide adequate mental health services to prisoners.
Well, we’re facing a New Year and I would like to rectify the situation somewhat. So, I have revamped my entry in the About Us page.
